I had a friend Scott Bivin call me today and advised me that Mike had passed away.
MIke was one of the finest people I have ever met. He helped people and gave of himself on a daily basis. He was a happy person, had a wonderful out look on life and enjoyed living andhelping others.

We worked together at UNC in Odessa and he set up and moved all the freight in and out for us. No shipment was too small when shipping domestically or if it was an international shipment. He always came through for us.

He helped me in one of my lowest points in life and I will never forget him. When I think of him, I see him smiling, laughing and he would have his cowboy boots on and his cowboy hat. One time my wife was in a bad car wreck and he and Teresa picked up my daughter and kept her for me until things got better.

He was big and tall, and his heart was just as big and he had love for anyone that needed it.

Mike thank you for being my friend and helping me when I needed it.

Mike was one of our dearest friends. I met Mike when I lived in Texas many years ago. Though I moved to Tennessee, many miles away, we kept in touch and remained friends through the years. He was a proud man who handled his illnesses with such grace. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

in honor of Thomas.

Thomas Michael Sawyer was my uncle and always known as "Uncle Mike". My dad and Uncle Mike were 11 months apart in age and departed this world 11 months apart. I always loved spending time with Uncle Mike when I would come stay the summers with my grandmother in Texas. Seeing Uncle Mike was such a huge highlight on my trips. He was always so caring and i never wanted for anything when in his company. I remember leaving the airport the last visit to Texas and I was just in tears about leaving my grandmother and Uncle Mike just laughed at me and had me laughing by the time I boarded the airplane. He always told me stories about him growing up with my dad that kept me laughing. I pray peace over his family and pray for strength during this time. Uncle Mike will be missed but never forgotten. To me he was a Big Gentle Giant and I will always remember him that way.
