Triston Jonathan John's Obituary
In the early morning hours of November 18, 2004, God blessed Sterling and Alicia John with a beautiful baby boy that they named Triston Jonathan John. He was born at Mt. Hope Hospital, Trinidad, West Indies.
Triston began his early development and subsequent education at St. Pyra’s Boys RC in Trinidad before moving to the United States in 2014. As a young boy, Triston loved flying kites, riding his bicycle, playing cricket and any other sports that would keep him outdoors. He was a very friendly, cheerful child and easily made. He was loved by the neighbors both young and old. Triston was very close to his maternal grandfather, Archie Mohammed and went everywhere with him. He loved to shadow his grandfather and it was time spent together that they both enjoyed.
In 2014, Triston and his mother moved to Grand Prairie, TX. Upon arrival in Texas, Triston was a curious kid and wanted to explore and try many things. He immediately developed a taste for something that he could not get in Trinidad, What-A-Burger burgers. He wanted one as often as he could get one. Although he grew up on a tropical island surrounded by water, he did not develop a love for seafood until moving to Texas where his taste buds began a love affair with crab legs.
He enrolled in school at Farrell Elementary and continued to Barnett Middle School, both located in Grand Prairie. He entered high school at Bowie and later transferred to South Grand Prairie High where he was scheduled to graduate in May 2023. While in high school he played multiple sports, excelled in academics and graduated early in 2022. Triston developed a post-graduation plan and while in high school he began working on that plan. He worked at multiple places including; Chicken and Pickle Restaurant, Buffalo Wild Wings, McDonalds, Sam’s Club, Advanced Auto and Red Lobster and was always recruiting his friends to work at the same locations. At the time of his passing, he was working for Spectrum. As a young boy, hard work was instilled in him when he started working with his father learning different trades including carpentry, tile laying, bathroom, and home remodeling.
Triston was an extremely independent young man who loved life. His love of life was part of his plans to live his dream after his graduation. There were multiple parts to his dream, one was to own his own car. Working hard and saving his money, he realized this part of his dream when he purchased his first car, a BMW which he purchased for cash. Again thru hard work and determination, he was able to realize another part of his dream which was to move into his own apartment. Soon after realizing these things, he desired to purchased his dream car, a Ford Mustang. Sticking with his plan, always with his eye on the prize, he was able to make this part of his dream a reality. Throughout it all, he stayed humble and continued his hard work ethic.
Triston had a strong faith in God and with his parents and sister joined the New Life Bible Fellowship Church. He participated in the Youth and Children’s Ministry at the church. While at New Life he professed his desire to be baptized. He was baptized prior to his death. Triston passed away peacefully at the Medical City of Plano, Texas on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 11:05 p.m. His passing leaves a mark on his family and friends that will be felt for a lifetime.
Triston was proceeded in death by his beloved grandfather, Archie Mohammad, Sr., and his other grandfather, Ronald Scarborough.
He leaves to cherish his memories forever, his parents, Sterling and Alicia John, one sister, Abigail, paternal grandmother, Phyllis John and maternal grandmother, Gail Mohammad; uncles, Archie Mohammad, Jr., Anton Mohammad, Edson Eastman, and Gerard Asyn; aunts, Alisha Mohammad, Debbie Ann Taylor and Marcia Reid – all of Trinidad, and a host of cousins and other relatives within this country.
