Truman W. Jones' Obituary
Truman passed away at home on September 1, 2017 after having battled cancer for a number of years. He was born July 6, 1927 to Estelle Howell Jones and Guy W. Jones in Navo, Texas. Truman was survived by his wife of 31 years, Marilyn Allen Jones; one daughter: Valerie Vance of Crowley, Texas, stepson: Todd Allen of Sarasota; four grandchildren: Paul Vance, Leah Cook, Stephanie Vance and Ricky Harmon; eight great-grandchildren; a niece: Julie Rademacher and nephew: Jason Jones. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Jeanette; his parents: Guy and Estelle Jones and his brother Edward Jones.
Truman served honorably in the U.S. Navy prior to beginning his life-long airline career, first at Bonanza Airlines in Nevada, then Central Airlines in Ft. Worth, TX, Ozark Airlines in St. Louis, MO ending in retirement from United Parcel Services in Louisville, KY. He and Marilyn moved to Sarasota in 2003. He was a member of First Baptist Church Sarasota and Heritage Oaks Golf and Country Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with his wife in couples' events, with the mens' league at Heritage Oaks and with member of his interclub group.
He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd. Sarasota, FL 34238.
