Vincent E. Jordan's Obituary
Vincent Edward Jordan was born to Dorothy Lee and Walter Lee Jordan on February 2, 1967, in Spring Valley, New York. We often joke and say he likely entered the world, with his first word being Yo! Vincent accepted Christ in his youth at First Baptist Church in Spring Valley. He continued his spiritual journey throughout his life, most recently as a servant leader at The Village United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas.
Anyone who knows Vincent knows he has always excelled as a leader and was affectionately known as the greatest Tiger to come out of Spring Valley High School. A star athlete mastering basketball and football, Vincent earned a full scholarship as a running back at the University of Texas, El Paso. At UTEP, he took the word "Yo" to "Yo Baby, Yo Baby, Yo!" as a proud member of Theta Xi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. Vincent earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice which fueled his passion for becoming a great youth mentor and coach.
Upon graduation from UTEP, Vincent returned to New York and began working in the field of social work. After a few years, he moved to Dallas, Texas, where he served as the Court Officer and later Field Officer for the Dallas 4C Reentry Court. Vincent was very impactful and really cared about his clients, providing the tools to help them pursue sobriety. He believed in making a difference in their lives. He always went the extra mile and graciously volunteered to serve as Master of Ceremony for drug court graduations. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he always expressed his pride in clients who successfully completed the program. During this time in his life, he met his soulmate, Regina, at a UTEP teammate's wedding, where their love story began. They were joined in union on June 8, 1996.
Vincent possessed a larger-than-life personality. He was a man of honor, a dedicated mentor, a great supporter, an enthusiastic encourager, and a non-stop dancer who met no strangers. If you were a friend, you became family; and for him, family was more precious than gold.
Everyone who knows Vincent knows his family was the most important part of his life. In addition to Regina, his greatest joy could be found in Vincent K. Jordan and Caleb M. Jordan. He intentionally guided his sons through all phases of their academic and sports careers. He was their coach, advocate, personal trainer, and President of their fan clubs!
Vincent was preceded in death by his Father, Walter Lee Jordan. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of 26 years, Regina, for whom he serenaded by dance on their wedding day to a song dedicated to her, "The Lady In My Life" by Michael Jackson; his pride and joy, sons Vincent K. Jordan and Caleb M. Jordan; one granddaughter, Mariah Jordan, his beloved mother Dorothy Lee Jordan, sister, Debra (Jerold) Hendricks, seven brothers Bernard (Jacqueline) Jordan, Ronnie (Brenda) Jordan, Anthony Jordan, Tyrone Jordan, Ed Bell, Rodney (Courtney) Bell, and Dwayne (Shantee) Bell, father and mother in law, Thomas (Pops) and Minnie Sapp, sister-in-law Lakeshia Carter, twenty-five nieces and nephews, two great nephews, five brothers in love, Tony (Tasha) Tolbert, Rameses Akbar, Johnny (Maria) Kashkin, Calvin Crosslin and Frank (Sharon) Archie, two Godsons Anthony Tolbert and Ari Tolbert, one Goddaughter and great niece Danielle Jordan and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins whom he loved dearly.
