When I was a little boy, I spent summers with my grandparents in Missouri. One summer I built a crystal radio and was frustrated that it did not work. Out of nowhere, Mel came by my grandparents house to visit ME!!. He was on active duty at the time and apparently was home on leave. Leave is precious and for him to take time out to visit me made a real impression on me. He pointed out the problem with my radio, it was a grounded antenna. We fixed it and the radio worked. Some time later he gave me a book on electricity, having noticed my interest. I still have that book 60 years later. What a special uncle he was. I will miss you.
