Coach Rick was one of the first basketball coaches I had that ever believed in me and my abilities. He was an amazing coach and an amazing person. The way he handled himself and poured into his coaching passion, especially for me at such a young age was everything. I was still very new to the sport and his team was my first non-YMCA team that I ever played on. He made me want to play hard. Off the court, he was so warm and welcoming. He never said no if we wanted to come over and hang out. He was very positive and uplifting and inspiring. Even when I moved away and couldn’t play on that team anymore he still followed my career. Each time we saw each other it was big hugs, reminiscing, and talking about basketball. I know he was more than that to a lot of people, but this is what he was to me. I’ll miss you Coach Rick. Thank you for everything.
