Wayne A. Hill Sr.'s Obituary
Wayne A. Hill Sr, age 56, of Pflugerville, Texas, passed away on February 15, 2025.
Wayne was born on May 2, 1968 in Linden, Guyana, South America to Berlena Hill-Blackson and Neville Grant. He grew up in Linden, Guyana then migrated to The Bronx, New York in August 1980 along with three of his siblings. He attended Stacey Adams High School and then New York City College where his focus was Computer Science. While at Stacey Adams he won the New York City best essay on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He relocated to Wilmington, Delaware with his parents and siblings in 1988. His career spanned from The Layton Nursing Home, Episcopal Nursing Home, Steelworker, Perkins Restaurant, Advo System, Armored Truck Guard, Goods Furniture. Mr. Hill was focused on providing for himself and his family once Goods Furniture hired him he came up with the vision to become an Entrepreneur by creating Hill Furniture Upholster, LLC. Hill Furniture Upholstery company with several contracts: Value City Furniture, Levitz Furniture, Cohen Furniture, Furniture Barn, Ashley Furniture, Ethan Allen Furniture, Raymore & Flanigan and Kincaid Furniture.
Wayne was known for sharp culinary skills. He was the life of the party. He was the party. He loved to dance, enjoyed fishing, and was a prominent New York Giants fan. But how did he find himself in Dallas Nation? He enjoyed playing pool, some would say he was a pool shark. Cooking Guyanese dishes was a favorite. He loved stargazing, traveling and collecting planes. Wayne was a genuine being, with a unique laugh, kindness, humor, and love for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his sister Denise Vanessa Hodge and brother Noel M. Hill.
He is survived by his mother, Berlena Hill-Blackson, his fiancee, Loveveol Ashanti Cort, his children: Natasha Hill and Wayne A. Hill Jr. His siblings: Sharon Dover, brother-in-law, Danny Dover, Andrew Hill, Leonard Hill and Wilbert Smith, Gail Grant-McGuire, Bryan Grant and Geraldite Dugue Grant. His nieces and nephews: Daniel and Brooke A. Russell, Samuel and Deborah V. A. Alexis, Jade Hill, Bryan Grant Jr., Bryce Grant, Briyah Grant and Brayden Grant. Great niece and nephews: Andrew James Henry, Azaiah Nathaniel Henry, Nova Skye Russell and Noah Russell. His beloved uncles and aunts: Bertie Hill, John and Melody Bentick, Charles and Gloria James, Jem Harewood, Hyacinth Skeete, and Donna Lawson. Eldest cousins of each uncle and aunt: Jackie Hill, Karen Hill, Mark Perry, Tsehai Harewood, Dr. Marcelle Petry, Donnette Hill, and Johnzetta Bentick. He also leaves behind a plethora of cousins, as well as a host of dear friends and devoted coworkers who will forever cherish his memory.
A celebration of life will be held on May 1, 2025 at 10:00 am at Mansfield Funeral Home & Cremations. In lieu of flowers, a Gofundme has been created, the family requests donations be made to his children in Wayne’s honor.
